Low-profile Beam-control Antenna Based on Reconfigurable Transmissive Metasurface

摘要
A 1-bit reconfigurable transmissive metasurface antenna (RTMA) with beam scanning and multi-beam forming capabilities is designed in this paper. The RTMA consists of 121 electronically controllable elements and a microstrip patch feeding antenna. The profile of the RTMA is only 0.19 lambda(0), which is significantly lower than other metasurface antennas (The lambda(0) is the wavelength in free space at 5.47GHz). By integrating two p-i-n diodes, the proposed element achieves 180 degrees phase difference. The simulation results show that the peak gain of the RTMA is 11.1dBi. The scanning angle ranges from -60 degrees to +60 degrees in E-plane with the gain fluctuation less than 0.6dBi. The RTMA has advantages of low-profile, low-cost and easy integration.
