摘要：
It has been our experience that the notion of flat concurrent-engineering organizations is not realistic. We have introduced hierarchical concurrent engineering (HCE) as a general line of research exploring alternate organizational forms and decision-making processes to support concurrent engineering and optimization processes for large engineering projects. In this paper we discuss the application of HCE to a design example involving interactive decision making, and describe two agents that we have developed to facilitate decision making for problems similar to this example.
