Ultrasonic studies of binary mixtures of water plus iso-propanol; water plus pyridine; iso-propanol plus pyridine at 303.15 K

The ultrasonic velocities and densities have been measured for the systems: water + iso-propanol. water + pyridine and pyridine + iso-propanol, at 303. 1.5 K. From these data, experimental compressibilities have been calculated, Ideal compressibilities and excess compressibilities have been estimated by three recently developed expressions. The results have been analyzed on the basis of the variations in ultrasonic velocities, compressibilities and excess compressibilities. Water- iso-propanol 'clathrate-like' structures are observed at lower concentrations of alcohol in water. Water-pyridine complexes have been observed at lower concentrations of pyridine in water. The presence of weakly bonded alcohol-pyridine structures are noticed in the binary mixture pyridine + iso-propanol.
