On participation of hydroxide ions in the anodic dissolution of metals in aqueous electrolyte solutions

摘要
The increase in the anodic current at a fixed potential is formally explained by taking into account the shift of anodic partial curves with a change in pH, without invoking any concept of catalytic properties of hydroxide ions and their effect on the kinetics of any stage of the anodic process. By using the suggested thermodynamic approach, the experimental reaction orders of the anodic process in hydroxide ions are quantitatively explained.
