摘要
This paper discusses the process for making lightweight aggregate, the waste materials that make good lightweight aggregate, the chemistry of making lightweight aggregate and the commercial prospects for making lightweight aggregate from wastes. Svedala Industries has been making lightweight aggregate (LWA) from waste materials for the last 10 years. Many claylike materials, such as coal-fired boiler ash and washings from a granite quarry, can be used alone or with additional waste materials to produce commercially salable LWA.
