Line x tester analysis for combining ability in bottle gourd under temperate conditions of Kashmir valley

摘要
Combining ability effects were estimated for 14 different characters in bottle gourd (Lagenaria siceraria (Molina) Standl) comprising 45 hybrids obtained by crossing 15 lines and 3 testers by line x tester method. Significant differences were observed among the parents and hybrids / crosses for gca and sca effects respectively. Analysis of gca effects for parents revealed that line NDBG-123 possessed high gca effects for 10 out of 14 traits followed by SHBG-11 (8 traits), KLG (5 traits) and SHBG-12 (3 traits). Crosses exhibiting sca effects for most of the traits were NDBG-4000 x PSPL (2 traits), L-27 x BGS-50 (5 traits) L-10 x PSPL (2 traits), BTG-1 x SHBG-11 (2 traits), Punjab Round x PSPL (3 traits), NDBG-20 x PSPL (2 traits), L-10 x SHBG-11 (6 traits), NDBG-123 x SHBG-11 (5 traits) and Kalyanpur Long Green x SHBG-11 (6 traits). Pb. Round x SHBG-11 (5 traits), Local Long Green x SHBG-11 (5 traits) and SHBG-12 x BGS-50 (3 traits).
