Study on dry sliding wear behaviour of NiCrAlY/B4C/cenosphere composite coating by RSM method

摘要
The present article deals with dry sliding wear behaviour of NiCrAlY/B4C/Cenosphere coatings on MDN321 substrate material. The coating was carried out at atmospheric conditions by plasma spray technique. The dry sliding wear behaviour of MDN321 and composite coatings were evaluated form room temperature to 150 degrees C. The wear experiments were carried out under dry sliding conditions using pinon-disc test rig at elevated temperature conditions. The optimization of wear parameters were carried out by Response surface method (RSM). Further the coating thickness and microhardness of the coatings were carried out. The effect of B4C concentration was studied along with the sliding speed and normal load applied on the pin, keeping sliding distance constant. The higher B4C particle concentration has resulted in higher microhardness of the coating. The optimum operating conditions for the better specific ear rate was found to be at 15% of B4C content in NiCrAlY composite coating. The statistical model developed by central composite design (CCD) was found to be well fit in the model. (C) 2020 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
