摘要
Due to large dependency on weather condition, the nature of renewable energy resources is uncertain. To overcome these uncertainties and provide an interrupted power to customer Energy Storage System(ESS) can be installed in power system. In this paper, the planning and scheduling of ESS to relive the congestion and uncertainties in the power system is analyzed. The main objective is to minimize the planning and congestion cost. The planning cost depends on the rated capacity of the ESS and the congestion cost depends on the line flows along the transmission line. If we install higher rating of the ESS capacity, the congestion cost reduces whereas planning cost increases. Similarly, if we choose to install lower rated ESS, congestion cost will increase but planning cost will decrease. Hence, the selection of proper rating of ESS is determined by trading off the planning cost and congestion cost. The proposed approach is simulated on IEEE 24 RTS bus system. The wind and solar output power is modelled using a normal distribution of wind and solar of 200 MW as a mean output power and 15% standard deviation. The mitigation of uncertain renewable resources and congestion in the network is managed by optimal charging and discharging of ESSs. In most cases, ESSs charge during off peak period and discharge during peak period.
