摘要
Rural e-healthcare model is required to demonstrate the role of information and communication technologies (ICT) for rural development by government of India. The citizens in the villages are deprived from basic health care system. The mortality rate is higher in women and children. The government hospitals are in a very bad shape. Many citizens do not have hospitals around 20 km of the radius. This paper explains design and infrastructure challenges to setup rural health care system. Many states have existing infrastructure and facility called state wide area networks (SWAN). This rural health care model has the aim to use the SWAN facility to reduce the cost and speed of realization. Significant amount of effort is required in designing and developing the ICT solutions through well-managed software engineering process. The project management team will have to use excellent management techniques to ensure sustainability. The goal and idea of this paper is to present available technology, new hardware, software plan, challenges and issues associated with the rural ICT health care model.
