摘要
In this study, we perform a systematic review of the literature concerned with crowding in pediatric emergency departments and assess, via discrete-event simulation, the impact of the implementation of triage-based protocols -which consist in allowing triage nurses to prescribe diagnostic tests before the first physician assessment-on the emergency department performance. The study is based on real data from a leading Italian hospital.
