Individuation and neurosis

In 1929 Jung turned away from Freud's analytic technique and developed his specific active procedure designed for special cases such as advanced age or patients whose neurosis expressed a search for meaning. This step in essence is to be regarded as the foundation of his own school, namely 'Analytical Psychology'. Jung himself repeatedly pointed out the limitations of this procedure. If it is regarded as the only one, a lack of technique develops in our treatment. We can neither ignore the classic, nor the modern concepts of treatment in psychoanalysis.
