摘要
Since metasurface antennas are composed of ensembles of electrically-small resonators, they have a tendency to be frequency band-limited. While this may be a significant challenge in wireless communications, for biomedical applications, such inherent limitation may be an advantage. In this work, we present an application of a metasurface antenna where the antenna is used to capture an impression-image of a human female breast, thereby acting as an electronic film. The impression basically captures the electromagnetic near field arising from the reradiation of the breast. We Show that such use of metasurfaces antennas, when used as receivers, can provide a potentially powerful diagnostic tool for breast cancer detection.
