ACC/AHA/SCAI 2005 guideline update for percutaneous coronary intervention. Part III

This is the third part of translation of Guidelines for coronary interventions. These Guidelines for percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) is an update presented at Annual scientific session of American Heart Association (AHA) in November, 2005. Previous Guidelines for PCI were prepared by the American College of Cardiology and AHA in 2001. In the preparation of the present version except above mentioned societies participated experts of Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and interventions (SCAI). This part of Guidelines contains consideration of problems of operator and institutional competency. Requirements to interventional cardiologists to resources of clinics fulfilling selective and primary PCI are presented. Definitions of quality of PCI are given. Levels of individual and hospital volumes of interventions related to safety and quality of various PCI are distinguished. Problems of surgical support of PCI are also discussed. Official permission for translation of the Guidelines was obtained by the Authors from the ACC Director for licenses and partnership Elizabeth J.Wilson.
