摘要：

The paper deals with the application of the Newton-Raphson procedures as a basis for the computations by finite elements method in nonlinear structural analysis. It also discusses the causes that may lead to the occurrence of nonlinearity in a variety of physical problems. The algorithm of the procedure is shown. Special attention is given to the problems in applying the Newton-Raphson procedures for defining a nonlinear stress-strain relationship, and the possibilities of overcoming them, moding the general method.
