摘要
In this work, a static lightpath approach is used for traffic grooming in order to minimize the bandwidth blocking probability in Wavelength Division Multi-plexed Passive Optical Networks (WDM-PON). In WDM-PON, each subscriber is assigned a distinct wavelength as the transmission channel. It offers greatest flexibility, because of its point to point (P2P) technology. Each wavelength channel supports the traffic in Gbps range. In practice, individual traffic request from subscribers needs bandwidth in Mbps range. To utilize the network resources efficiently in WDM-PON, traffic grooming technique is implemented. The proposed algorithm, here is for the traffic grooming and routing in hybrid networks. In this network optical and World Interoperable Microwave Access (WiMAX) architectures are integrated. The proposed algorithm improves the bandwidth blocking probability rate for both upstream and downstream traffic requests. The performance of our algorithm is evaluated using simulation results. The simulation and result shows that the proposed algorithm provides better result than existing shortest path algorithm.
