摘要
As part of the Williamsburg Bridge Reconstruction Project, the existing deck on the main bridge will be replaced by a closed rib, steel orthotropic deck. Concern about fatigue problems with these deck systems has led to the development of two alternative weld details for the diaphragm plate to closed rib connection. These connections are the focus of a fatigue study at Lehigh University's ATLSS Center. This paper presents details regarding the two proposed rib to diaphragm connection details, the test setup, as well as results of the static and fatigue tests.
