摘要
the main objective of this work is to propose a gap analysis aimed to develop an integrated system that allows efficient water management in a residential space, displaying and retrieving relevant information requested by consumer, buildings administrators, water operators, stakeholders and decision making factors. The system must encourage the citizen and the decision making factors to promote an efficient water management in an area or in the built environment, taken account that, as an important resource, the water could become "smart" through the instrumentality of the systems of collecting, cleaning, measuring and monitoring. A smart water technology in a built environment allows seeing the efficiency of the distribution system and the real time consumption. In terms of finding an alternative source of water, a valuable resource is the rainwater. The usage of the rainwater can reduce the water bills and provide an alternative supply during water restrictions. Better collection of the rainwater would decrease the rainwater runoff and would reduce local flooding.
