Competition in the Central European telecommunications networks

Based on the comparative analysis for Poland Czech Republic and Hungary the development of the tele-communications in 1990s will be discussed. Beside commonly observed backwardness of the infrastructure, some differences also appear, particularly the telephone penetration in the rural areas. The influence of this differences and other factors for the progress in construction of new and modernizing of the existing networks will be enamine. Special attention will be paid to the telecommunications policies carried on in the countries under consideration and in this content the implementation of the development programs as well as new elaborated telecommunications law. This constitute a background of clearly decided objective - to enter the European Union as fast as possible and to this end to fulfill all necessary infrastructure requirements not only from point of view of the technological interoperability but also taking the liberalization and the privatization into consideration.
