A model of the mechanism of motion of a snake

摘要
The motion of a snake is considered using as a model an elastic rod in which the shape of the neutral axis is controllable. The optimal control of this shape, guaranteeing the minimum internal effort for a given value of the average tractive force, is found. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
