QoS Decomposition for Dependable Service-Oriented Middleware

In this paper, a dependable service-oriented middleware (DSM) is proposed by introducing the concept of Quality of Service (QoS) into service-oriented architecture. DSM provides a dependable framework with the functionalities of QoS monitoring, configuration and runtime management to fulfill user's QoS request. The overall QoS requirement of the entire composite service is satisfied with the method of planning and guaranteeing the QoS of each atomic service. Our approach is to decompose the QoS requirement for the composite service into separate ones for the atoms, and to deliver expected QoS for each atomic service with adaptive service scheduling mechanisms. This paper first presents a group-based service redundancy management and QoS decomposition model to support dependable service-oriented architecture; then demonstrates the structure and components of DSM; finally experimental results indicate good performance of the proposed framework and algorithms.
