Minimizing segregation during the controlled directional solidification of dendritic alloys

摘要
The minimized segregation during the controlled directional solidification of dendritic alloys was discussed. It was found that the application of a slow axial rotation during controlled directional solidification of dendritic alloys promoted microstructural homogeneity. The analysis showed that the optimized rotation eliminated channel segregates and only a quiescent microgravity environment ensured diffusion-controlled growth.
