摘要
Samaria gorge located in the White Mountains on Crete has been nominated as both a National Park and a Biosphere Reserve, while it also holds the diploma of the Council of Europe protected areas. Its management is currently done by the local forest directorate; however the constitution of a new management body is necessary because of recent legislation. The new management body of the area is discussed by taking into account all necessary prerequisites since every nomination requires the fulfillment of specific principles. This proposal is a case study in designing the management bodies of all protected areas (National Parks and NATURA 2000 sites).
