摘要
This article aims to map out the feminine sentence, conceived by Virginia Woolf in A Room of One's Own (1929), in Jane Austen's novels Pride and Prejudice (1813) and Persuasion (1818). Based on this mapping out, this article inscribes Austen's oeuvre within women's literary tradition, whilst attaining to her contribution to the breaking of the masculine sentence, which undermines its logic as it ironically promotes laughter (BERGSON, 2018) and a critical perspective on literary and social conventions.
