Reduction of light speed in one-dimensional photonic band-gap structures with a defect

摘要
The light propagation through one-dimensional photonic band-gap structures with a defect layer embedded at the center was investigated. A multi-scattering model is used to evaluate the average time spent in each layer. The average velocity of light at the defect frequency is greatly reduced.
