摘要
Location registration scheme is one of the most important issues in the cellular systems, especially in the microcellular systems. In this paper, we introduce hybrid stepwise paging scheme with small paging areas in one large location area, to reduce the location registration signals. To compare the performances of those schemes such as zone-based location registration schemes with small location area in one large location area and proposed stepwise paging scheme, we peform some experimants with variant call arrival rates and velocities. The results show that the proposed hybrid scheme reduces the signaling cost for the users with high velocity and with low incoming call arrivals. Next, we investigate the performance with real world environment. This result shows that the proposed scheme can eliminate the inefficiency by reducing the updating signals of users with high velocity. The proposed hybrid stepwise paging scheme is better than traditional zone-based location registraion schemes for the next generation mobile communications systems.
