摘要
Antioxidants play an important protective role in many fields. However, they are generally unstable small molecules or complicated compounds hindered by effectiveness and safety. Herein, Hantzsch reaction and highthroughput (HTP) technique are taken advantage of to fabricate a library of polysaccharide-based polymers with the goal of accomplishing antioxidant ability. Note that all the starting materials are renewable resources that include polysaccharide macromolecules and essential oil extracts, and react in "green" solvents under mild conditions. The resulting polysaccharide-based polymers have been HTP screened towards achieving superior antioxidant activity. Meanwhile, the selected polymer is upgraded to offer water-soluble polymers that exhibited excellent antioxidant capacity. They also perform many promising features, such as excellent biocompatibility, outstanding UV resistant properties and significant antibacterial activity. Inspired by these advantages, they demonstrate potential applications in functional food packaging films. This research provides the underlying insights to design and screen functional polysaccharide-based polymers with abundant diversity.
