Millikan Lecture 1997: Is there a text in this class?

I'll propose a physicist's answer to Stanley Fish's impudent question, and offer some thoughts about the role of text(book)s in the teaching and learning process. Also - with a view to offending as many listeners as possible - I will indulge in some gratuitous curmudgeonly remarks about the reform movement in physics education.
