Training and development program as a source of improving employee job performance

摘要
In the field of Strategic Human Resources Management it was acknowledged that recruitment and selection, training and development, performance appraisals and compensation are the main element that exists to assist organizations in managing employee. The importance of strategic human resources management is inevitable as a pool of human is selected, recruited and trained through the process to execute duties and responsibilities. Training and development is part of the program that exists, and this study is conducted to examine the impact of training and development towards hotel employee job performance in Penang, Malaysia. A total of 382 questionnaires were deployed, as a results, 194 responses (51%) were successfully collected. The data were analyzed and several important findings were established, thus, supporting the literature that exists in the human resources management field. From this study it was discovered that training and development program was among the most important antecedent to produce high job performance.
