摘要
Recently, a new kind of parallel Computing platform, PC cluster, gets more and more popular. This paper presents a multimedia server, which based on the PC cluster environment. This multimedia server was realized by combining the database and objects-oriented technology. This multimedia server has a set of management software and provides an interface by using tile groupware technology, which support the programming of web mode very well. So not only this system can be used independently, but also it can be a base for other applications, such as VOD system, Multimedia e-library, and so on. As a Summary, this multimedia server uses the features of PC cluster very well. It has the advantages of huge storage ability in hard disk, wide network band, high computing speed, flexible expendability and good reliability.
