Energy-Efficient Coded-Modulation for High-Speed Optical Communication based on Statistical Physics Concepts

摘要
Shannon's entropy can be obtained by Sterling's approximation of thermodynamics entropy, indicating that statistical physics energy minimization methods are directly applicable to the signal constellation design. We demonstrate that statistical physics inspired energy-efficient coded-modulation significantly outperforms conventional PDM-QAM.
