Tests of Reference Samples for Calibration of Hydrogen Analyzers

Low hydrogen concentration, of the order of ppm, reduces the strength and toughness of steels and other alloys by several times. These concentrations are measured using hydrogen analyzers during manufacturing and operation of metal products. Unlike other chemical elements, the mandatory regular international comparisons are not carried out on measurements of hydrogen concentration. The article presents test data for reference samples of hydrogen concentration obtained in various laboratories. It is concluded that it is necessary to build a metrological system for measuring hydrogen concentration by using physically substantiated analysis methods.
