Teaching paradigm exploration of Innovation & Practice course in computer science

摘要
During the information era, the innovation and practice ability of university students in Computer Science (CS) plays a very important role in the life-long career. To smoothly adapt the Innovation & Practice course into the CS curriculum architecture, we in this paper present a novel teaching paradigm called Students' Interest-Oriented pattern with Personalized Seminar (SIOPS). Specifically, this paradigm closely targets the frontiers of computer science, and students are expected to accomplish one project in group. Furthermore, the contents of projects are carefully tailored to undergraduates in terms of interests and knowledge background. Experiments on second-year undergraduates have shown several promising advantages of the proposed teaching paradigm, including enhancing course participation, cultivating innovation consciousness, building teamwork spirit and improving their practice ability. In addition, this paradigm is possible to be generalized to other courses in computer science.
