Computer supported collaborative learning framework for the handicapped in ubiquitous computing environment

E-learning has become the most important developing direction of modern learning. With the advancing of computing model, from desktop computing to ubiquitous computing, researchers have focused their attention from Mobile Learning (ML) to Ubiquitous Learning (UL) in today's E-learning. Through convenient and flexible ubiquitous devices and wired/wireless network, researchers and developers strive to provide learners with teaching and learning materials, services, together with collaborator that can be accessible anytime, anywhere, with appropriate interfaces. Traditional researches suppose to develop a generic system. They rarely take the handicapped into account. But in ubiquitous computing environment the handicapped should be offered the same services as others. This paper describes the design of a Computer Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) framework which takes care of requirements of the disabled. Because learners may have very different skills and profiles the system will find most relevant learning materials and best interface to deliver to them. The system will also find helpers around the learner and makes them communication with each other via feasible interfaces.
