American cinema as seen from France, from cinephilia to film studies

In France, American cinema has long been connected to "cinephilic" legends and rituals before it achieved progressive recognition as a legitimate field for research. This paper aims at a contribution to this work in progress by proposing a narrative rhetoric based on the influence of a few narrative figures in the Classic Hollywood Cinema.
