Non-enzymatic electrocatalytic detection of hydrogen peroxide using Tungsten disulphide nanosheets modified electrodes

摘要
Herein, we report the facile synthesis of WS2 nanosheets and the development of WS2 nanosheets modified glassy carbon electrodes for the non-enzymatic voltammetric detection and quantification of H2O2. Cyclic voltammetric studies were conducted to evaluate the sensor performances. The good electrical conductivity of WS2 nanosheets and the availability of surface-active reaction sites promoted the electrocatalytic reduction of H2O2 through a 2 -electron transfer process. Moreover, the reduction of H2O2 on WS2/GCE was found to be an irreversible adsorption-controlled process. The proposed sensor advertised linearity in the detection of H2O2 from 10 to 90 mu M, with a limit of detection (LOD) and sensitivity of 0.88 mu M and 0.303 mu A mu M-1 cm-2 respectively. The fabricated sensor also displayed a remarkable selectivity. The present study also demonstrated the practical utility of the proposed WS2/GCE sensor for H2O2 probing.
