Being a comprehensive industry, tourism can drive development of other industries, address problems facing the urban-rural dual structure, and promote coordinated urban-rural economic development. Under the background of informationization, China's urban-rural tourism development is faced with many obstacles, including backward tourism infrastructure, and lack of a complete administration mechanism and interdisciplinary talents. All these obstacles have impeded coordinated development of urban-rural tourism. This paper first reviews research findings of former domestic scholars, and then explores characteristics of China's coordinated urban-rural development mechanism and challenges facing the mechanism. Next, specific implementation paths, including jointly building urban-rural tourism routes, improving urban-rural supporting facilities, establishing management institutions, strengthening coordinated management and supervision, and combining competitive tourism resources in urban and rural areas, are proposed in the hope of promoting coordinated development of China's urban-rural tourism.
