摘要
Objective: This study aims to explore the application of preceptorship and its effects on the clinical performance of nursing students in the Indonesian public and teaching hospitals. Methods: A quantitative method with a descriptive survey approach was used in this study. A total of 57 participants were included using a non-probability sampling technique. A modified preceptor evaluation of student instrument was applied to measure students' clinical performances. Results: This study found that the average score of nursing students' clinical performances at the Indonesian public hospital was 107.2, while those at the teaching hospital was 105.7. Role modeling, case discussion, clinical skill demonstration, and bedside teaching were revealed effective to achieve the desired clinical learning outcomes. Conclusions: The application of preceptorship in Indonesian public and teaching hospitals had significant effects on nursing students to conquer their clinical performances. This study suggests nurse educators fully implement preceptorship in their clinical teaching strategies. (C) 2021 Elsevier Espana, S.L.U. All rights reserved.
