Using OER and teaching outside the classroom for enhancing STEM and ICT education

摘要
The paper presents some of the EU and Bulgarian initiatives for enhancing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education. Learning styles are analysed in terms of STEM and ICT skills improvement. Teachers' definitions and classification of STEM education and training are divided into three main categories. Based on one of them STEM education is presented as an integrated science, math, engineering, and technology approach. Some findings about the most effective trading methods are presented. A case study of teaching outside the classroom by teachers from Telecommunications department, University of Ruse is presented. The survey analysing the effect and the results of this training according to the teachers has been included in the discussion. Conclusions about the increase of the awareness of STEM learning outside the classroom are made.
