Practical application of ergonomic settings of typical computerised workplaces

The goal of the study was to check, with regards to ergonomics, workplaces equipped with display monitors in chosen enterprises. Over 180 workplaces were tested in three different enterprises. Most of them were workplaces equipped with computers. At the workplaces, ergonomics of both parameters of basic components of the workplace: chair and desk, and the way of positioning the computer at the workplace and the monitor screen with respect to windows and lighting fittings were analysed. Typical mistakes while organising the workplace were chairs inappropriate for work with a computer, as well as broken chair adjustment mechanisms that qualified the chairs for repair or replacement. Wrong positioning of monitors on the desk and with regard to windows and lighting fittings was also noted.
