CURRENT PROBLEMS OF COOPERATIVES AND THEIR ROLE IN FUTURE OF THE SLOVAK REPUBLIC

Slovakia had as of 31/12/2012 total 2,496 registered cooperatives that provided appropriate care for half a million individual members of cooperatives. Yet they are substantial differences in the size of cooperatives - from small and medium sized businesses, particularly manufacturing producer cooperatives and agricultural cooperatives, to large enterprises which are mainly housing and consumer cooperatives. These cooperatives work to meet the needs of several hundred or even thousands of its members. On the values of self-help should be further developed active cooperation not only within small teams at the regional level, but especially in large integrated cooperatives internationally. The development of cooperatives contribute as different system support business related to the stabilization of employment in the regions, programs for retraining and job opportunities for graduates of secondary schools and universities, grants technological innovation, further improve infrastructure and services for cooperatives, and alike.
