The Leonine Commission and intellectual history.

For the intellectual history of the 13(th) century, the introductions to the leonine Commission's editions concerning the disciplines of the faculty of arts, though at times dating as far back as thirty years, constitute an essential instrument, the continuing usefulness of which is cause for gratitude. What is more, the documentation assembled by an entire team for the edition of St. Thomas' works, particularly Louis-Jacques Bataillon's notes on the manuscripts, have proven indispensable to the completion of the reportorium of Parisian masters of arts, presently in publication.
