Municipal wastewater treatment disposal and potential for reuse in Greece

摘要
The number of the Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants (MWTPs) in Greece has increased rapidly during the last decade. An extensive survey has just been completed all over Greece by examining these wastewater treatment plants, which are under construction or in/not operation, during local visits and completing a questionnaire with data related to the size of the plant, the type and degree of treatment, the quality of effluent, the cost of construction, operation and maintenance, the regional water balance, the availability of arable land for irrigation, the possibility for ground water recharge, etc. It is attempted under the analysis and evaluation of the data collected from 241 plants, to conclude useful information, related to their location, capacity, level of treatment, biological treatment categories and status. Disposal sites of effluent and sludge is also presented and emphasis is given to the possibility of reuse.
