摘要
The aim of this work is to help students to identify the role of statistical methods in the engineering problem-solving process. A structured methodology of applying different statistical tools in the software package SPSS is presented in details. The topics considered in the work include descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, linear regression and correlation analysis, as well as analysis of variance (ANOVA). An example from engineering practice is used to illustrate the methods. The methodology could be used in the practical classes for engineers in Applied Mathematics and Higher Mathematics.
