摘要
Giant magnetostrictive material (GMM) is a new type of smart materials and using its magnetostrictive properties can make smart actuator to control the vibration of the structure under earthquake. This article introduce the deformation mechanisms, magnetic control features of GMM, based on these features, a new GMM actuator was designed. Its working principle and design method was analyzed, and then the actuator output performance test was carried out. Finally, the GMM actuator was applied to the structural vibration control and the effect was analyzed by an example. The research shows that the GMM actuator could reduce the acceleration and displacement response of the structure effectively, and this research would lay a good foundation for the application of GMM in the structural vibration control field.
