Optical-transition probability of the Nd3+ ion in GdAl3(BO3)4 crystal

摘要
Optical absorption and emission intensities of the Nd3+ ion in GdAl3(BO3)(4) crystal were investigated. Based on the Judd-Ofelt theory, the following spectral parameters were obtained: parameters of oscillator strengths Omega (lambda) Omega (2) = 1.89 x 10(-20) cm(2), Omega (4) 2.55 x 10(-20) cm(2), and Omega (6) = 4.95 x 10(-20) cm(2); radiative lifetime, 293 mus; and quantum efficiency 18.7%. The fluorescence branch ratios were calculated: beta (1) = 0.341, beta (2) = 0.536, beta3 = 0.117 and beta4 = 0.006. The value of stimulated-emission cross section sigmap was calculated.
