A knowledge sharing model in civil infrastructure industry

There is a need to encourage information exchange and knowledge sharing in civil infrastructure industry because people and projects need to be well coordinated in such a large and complex industry with great interdependencies. Effective information exchange and knowledge sharing not only depend on the Actors (who are you) but also the Roles (what do you do). This paper first discussed fundamental reason to model roles and then presents two submodels: one for Actor and their Roles, another for communication. Combing these two submodels this paper propose a knowledge sharing mechanism to match knowledge of both the industry itself and industry practitioners, using a content-based publication/subscription system.
