Simulation Study on Crashworthiness and Optimization Designs of Automobile Front Rails

摘要
This paper established finite element model of a SUV's front rails and simulated front impact. According to the results of simulation, the front rail's section shape and thickness were optimized. The paper compared the capability of absorbing energy of the front rail before and after the optimization. The simulation results show that the crashworthiness of the improved front rail was enhanced. Therefore it will provide good guideline to further improve the crashworthiness of the car.
