Persistent Urachal Sinus in Calf (Bos indicus): Diagnosis and Surgical Treatment

The goal of this report was to document one of the congenital urachal pathologies of rare presentation in calves (Bos indicus), its clinical and histological, diagnosis and surgical treatment. Descriptive not probabilistic study in fatten animal beef was performed a. It describes the medical-surgical follow-up of a six month old calf with urinary disease signs. In the exploration of the patient it was observed an umbilical neo-formation, fluctuating to touch, with liquid contents colleted ofter puncture and macroscopic characteristics compatible with urine. The urinanalysis reported abundant erythrocytes, transitional cells and abundant bacteria. In the surgery was observed that the umbilical bag had communication with the urine bladder and presented ulcers in its inner layer. The histological report was a mucous wall with the presence of transitional epithelium, having as a definitive diagnosis infected urachal sinus, being this the first report of its kindin the Colombian Caribbean region.
