摘要:
We review the evidence showing that the acquisition of literacy (learning to read and write) transforms our brain in the processing systems of language and vision. We discuss the fact that literacy acquisition is a remarkable example of cortical plasticity, thus of neuronal recycling, with important implications for educators of both typically reading and dyslexic children, and the possible reduction with age of this plasticity. Based on these facts, we also present ethical and socio-political considerations.
