摘要：

Containment of the liquid metal at the inlet to the rolls, and achievement of good edge quality, are related problems with twin-roll aluminium casting. This paper describes the theory and operation of a non-contact, electromagnetic edge dam developed with the objective of overcoming these problems. Casting trials using this edge dam have shown that adequate containment can be achieved, with the bonus of precise control of strip width and excellent edge quality.
